“South Sudanese are not cats, they cannot do a catwalk but a giraffe walk,” commented a Kenyan Social Media participant, hence the name “The Giraffe Walk’.
Performed by the top tallest from South Sudan, the ‘Giraffe Walk’ is also a wrestling field-attached activity. It is an opening parade match carried out by seven tall ladies and gentlemen bearing flags. Led by the ‘World’s Wonder Giant’, Michael Malith Dak Deng, the ‘Ambassadors down the Nile’ usher the wrestling teams to their sitting camps in a majestic procession now dubbed ‘The Giraffe Walk.
