ABOUT WWB

ABOUT US

This stands for Wrestlers Without Borders, and it is about African wrestling style that is now upgraded from being a traditional game to a national and now international sport.

In 2017, South Sudanese refugees in East Africa networked with wrestling personalities in South Sudan and came up with Wrestlers Without Borders (WWB). With the hashtags of #Refugees4Olympics and #Wrestling4Peace, WWB launched its first campaign on dissemination of the Revitalized Peace Agreement (RARCiSS) and repatriation. In 2021, WWB teamed up with an international sports academy (PAMIA) in Kenya to mobilize refugees towards the Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 Olympic games. Challenges notwithstanding, wrestling was and is top-list of all the popular sports in South Sudan. WWB was registered in Uganda as company limited by guarantees and now in South Sudan as sports and culture company.

VISION

WWB's vision is making wrestling a top sport business contributing to national development through talents spotting and supporting from the grassroots to the world.

MISSION

To modernize wrestling from traditional into one of the vibrant sports having its professional, profitable, private clubs that are able to compete both locally and internationally.

OBJECTIVES

WWB'S AFFILIATES

WWB CLUBS

In order for South Sudan to benefit from the wrestling sport, it is highly recommended that the game be professionalized, privatized, commercialized, popularized and internationalized. Therefore, WWB has been endeavouring to upgrade wrestlers from their traditional settings to the modern world standard of sportspersons. And it is through the formation of private clubs from across the states. In this way, Peace will be likely achieved as the clubs will mix the players from various communities.

WIRR is a mnemonic for Wrestling, Initiation, Recreation and Rehabilitation. It is the foundational community wing of WWB. In other words, ‘wirr’ (wit, yuir/yuit) means wrestling in a Mundari and Dinka languages. The organization handles the non-for-profit undertakings of WWB company.

Also referred to as ‘Wir (wrestling) Academy’, the Apäräk Academy trains wrestlers, organizes initiation caravan for young boys and bootcamps for young girls.
